Trusted Community Resource

We work to provide guidance and support to our network health centers.  This helps them to deliver quality care and patient experiences and improve health and wellness in the communities we serve.

Strong and Growing

The HCLA IPA network serves over 560,000 members. We are the largest Independent Physician Association (IPA) in California devoted to the underserved patient community, and care for more Medi-Cal beneficiaries than any other organization in Los Angeles County.

A Reputation of Respect

HCLA IPA is consistently recognized by industry leaders, providers and members alike for our dedication to sustaining a quality health care safety net for those who need it most.

Our Mission

To provide community based providers in Los Angeles County with a managed, integrated healthcare delivery system to serve their communities in an organized, efficient, compassionate and financially responsible manner.

The Benefits of Contracting with HCLA IPA

With our decades of care management experience, HCLA IPA offers expertise, resources and support to our network health centers. Our management company, MedPoint Management, provides administrative services like utilization management, care management, customer service and claims processing to help members and providers to navigate managed care. This frees our partner health centers to focus their time and energy on delivering quality patient care and service.

Our transparent Independent Physician Association provides Los Angeles County with access to a trusted, culturally-sensitive network of healthcare resources and providers—all working together to create better health and wellness.

We Help Take Care of Quality

Our quality programs help our network of health centers stay up to date on the many quality metrics required by health plans to maintain patient health and wellbeing. This helps providers keep their practices strong while supporting wellness and a better quality of life for their patients.

Multiple Choices, One HCLA

We work with many different managed care health plans (including Medi-Cal, Medicare Advantage, Covered California and Commercial) to help patients and their families find the care and coverage they need all in one place. In this way, HCLA IPA supports a sustainable care network – helping patients stay with the health centers and providers they know and trust, even if their insurance plan changes.

A Trusted, Expanding Network

Our full-service network includes over 40 participating health centers with more than 100 practice sites, over 1,000 primary care physicians, and 3,000-plus contracted specialty providers. This gives members more convenient options and locations for care.

Community Partners

We value our health centers and the communities they serve, and work to support and uplift them every day.

Many of our Health Centers are officially designated as Patient-Centered Medical Homes (PCMH) by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). A PCMH works to meet each patient’s physical and behavioral and social health care needs including illness-prevention and wellness, in addition to acute and chronic care. By emphasizing care coordination, communication and patient experience, Patient-Centered Medical Homes deliver a higher quality of care while responsibly controlling costs.
