The mission of Venice Family Clinic is to provide quality primary health care to people in need. Venice Family Clinic (VFC) was founded in 1970 by volunteer physicians and first operated in space borrowed from a small dental office after business hours. There was, and remains, a tremendous need for affordable health care on the Westside of Los Angeles, which we continue to address each day. VFC is a national leader among community-based health care providers. VFC offers nine clinical sites across the Westside of Los Angeles that provides comprehensive primary health care and a range of specialty care and supportive services. These include medical, dental and vision care; mental health services; chronic disease management (such as diabetes and asthma); reproductive health and prenatal care; early childhood development; health education and wellness programs; case management; and lab and pharmacy services. Working together with community partners such as the UCLA Geffen School of Medicine, Cedars-Sinai and Kaiser Permanente, VFC also provides training for residents and medical students. Since 1998, Venice Family Clinic has partnered with Santa Monica High School to provide health care services on campus through the Teen Clinic Program. Services occur two times a week during school hours in the nursing office on campus where VFC providers offer medical evaluations, immunizations, treatment and counseling.
